My name is Ruby. I am a User Experience Design Manager at ResMed. I was born in Hong Kong and raised in the suburbs of Toronto, ON. I attended Carleton University in Ottawa, ON, and attained my Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design.
Having moved and travelled quite a bit, I gained valuable life skills that have shaped me into the designer I am today. I learned to listen intently to what people say because that is how you discover their goals, desires, values, struggles, etc. I learned to drop what I think I know so that I can hear what the problems are. Through active listening, I gain compassion and empathy, which are crucial in designing solutions that work.
