In early 2013, I came across Catchafire, a skill-based volunteer matching organization that connects non-profit organizations with individuals who have the right skill sets and want to do good. I applied for and landed my first ‘contract’ with ACE New York, an organization that provides services to the homeless within the Manhattan area. I worked with their communications coordinator closely to uncover what their needs were for their website redesign, such as; mobile device compatibility, simplified navigation and cleaner layout.
